The Late 70s.
It was the time of 'Grease', Meat Loaf, 'The War of the Worlds', The Knack and "Y.M.C.A.".
Punk and New Wave made further inroads with The Clash, Patti Smith, The Ramones and The Buzzcocks.
Chic kept us dancing while rap emerged via The Sugarhill Gang.

The Eighties began with music going in new directions, but 1980 ended in tragedy.

The Mid-70s.
The American sound expanded through acts such as Peter Frampton, America, Boz Scaggs, Boston and Fleetwood Mac. Disco dominated the airwaves and dancefloors. Punk rock crashed through. ABBA put Sweden on the pop music map and Queen wowed us all with their Bohemian Rhapsody.

This week, look back on the Early 70s.
1972-4 saw the dominance of singer/ songwriters like Jim Croce, Carly Simon, Roberta Flack and Dolly Parton. Pink Floyd took us to the dark side of the moon, Stevie Wonder lifted us to higher ground, Curtis Mayfield was superfly and Helen Reddy roared with her feminist anthem. West Coast America offered up The Eagles, Philadelphia became a musical hub through acts such as The Stylistics and Suzi Quatro emerged as one of the first rock chicks.
